Oui, moi aussi, j'adore la cuisine japonaise!
We made a recent discovery (thanks to all those websites and bloggers that go around and devote their time to reviewing various restaurants around Metro Manila)—a little nook in Tomas Morato called Wabi Sabi. They serve vegetarian Japanese food, so for non-pork and non-seafood eaters like moi, this is the place to be.
They have around seven or eight different kinds of ramen/soup-and-noodle bowls. And since we were more than that, we got to order every single bowl and went around tasting it. I tried the shoyu ramen which is more of a soy-sauce-based traditional ramen. One of my brothers tried the tom yum which is Thai and quite spicy and I think I want to try that next time.

We ordered other side dishes, like the summer rolls and the harumaki (spring rolls), and their best-selling sweet corn & cream cheese tempura. But my favourite was the okonomigyoza which was just heavenly. Ugh, so good. I am going back there to order maybe three plates of it.

It's a nice, cozy spot with a Japanese-themed interior. I love their plating (different noodle soups, different bowls) and the look and feel. The place is quite small, but since we got their early (it wasn't even dinner time yet—excited?), we were able to get seats inside. If you aren't at all familiar with the place or that it exists, you might miss it, but I think that's part of the charm.
